OUR STORY
Arizona Family Florist isn’t just their name–it’s who they are as a company. Founded in 2005 by husband and wife team Brad and Cheryl Denham, the company started delivering everyday flower arrangements in Phoenix’s east valley for a national flower retailer. Through hard work & dedication, Cheryl & Brad steadily grew their business to include 6 locations valley-wide, with an eventual goal of opening 10-20 retail stores. Once the recession hit in 2008, they had to take a hard look at their current business model and make immediate decisions about the future & direction of the floral industry and how that would affect their company. In a bold move, they consolidated the 6 locations into a central, state-of-the-art, 35,000 sq. ft. location in downtown Phoenix, serving the entire Phoenix metro area. In addition to consolidation, they focused their efforts on diversifying their business with the introduction of new floral and gifting brands. This proved to be a pivotal point in their success. With all operations housed under one roof, the business became much more efficient and flourished as the economy began to make a recovery.
In 2011, after seeing an unfulfilled need for local brides to have access to upscale floral design, Cheryl & Brad made another bold move in introducing LUX Wedding Florist. While being a natural extension of their core flower business, LUX became nationally recognized for winning the coveted Society of American Florists (SAF) ‘Marketer of the Year’ award in 2012. With the success of LUX, they have recently expanded the brand’s luxurious consultation and design studio in the adjacent suites.
With their tremendous buying power it made sense to sell floral and hard goods at the wholesale level to other local florists, so the Wholesale Division was born in 2016 and has been growing steadily ever since.
In 2022, the Denhams decided it was time to retire. They sold the business to Brennen Rigler, an astute Albuquerque-based businessman who built a similarly structured, thriving flower business there. In the more than two decades since he took the helm, Albuquerque Florist has received numerous industry and consumer awards. Brennen and his daughter Alexis relocated to Phoenix, where she now follows in her father’s footsteps as part of the Arizona Family Florist wholesale division. They continue to grow and expand the company together
